The Lendal™ Difference: Making History

Innovation is the means. Performance is the end. Passion in pursuit of both is what has driven us from day one. In the 1960s, Olympic sprint kayaker Alistair Wilson loved everything about paddlesports. Except the paddles. So he invented a better one, and Lendal™ was born.

Today, some 40 years later, Alistair is still obsessed with pushing the limits of performance, and Lendal has grown into a family company. Working alongside Alistair are his wife Marianne (herself a two-time Olympian) and two of their three children. They are ably assisted by a team of skilled craftspeople who bring many years of experience and dedication to the creation of what we believe are the finest paddles available anywhere.

Furthering our drive for innovative performance is Neil Baxter, seasoned waterman and possibly the most gifted designer working in paddlesports today. Neil’s unique understanding of how objects interact with the water inspired his Kinetik blade, the revolutionary design that redefined whitewater performance. Always in demand among top Olympians, the Kinetic blade has been widely copied by other paddlemakers, with varying degrees of success.

But Neil isn't one to let anyone catch him. He’s gone on to create the Kinetic Wing, a blade destined to revolutionize all-conditions performance paddling. To find Neil, just look in the surf zone. He'll be the one out there long after everyone else has gone home.

To find Lendal paddles in use, just look for the top athletes in a wide range of paddling disciplines. Sea paddlers Nigel Dennis and Justine Curgenven. Whitewater paddlers like Olly Sanders, Gordon Brown, Jon Turk, Dessie McGlinchey, Jason Hale and Andria Baldovin. And top competitive paddlers like Campbell Walsh.

You'll also see our paddles powering some of the most ambitious expeditions to all corners of the globe. The line between failure and success out here is very fine, so a paddle with Lendal's unique blend of durability and performance can make all the difference.

Where we most like to see our paddles, of course, is in your hands. Because we firmly believe that every paddler deserves world-class performance. Born of the passion for innovation that has been driving us for more than 40 years.
